Seven advantages to boost Hohhot's cloud computing

Hohhot, the capital of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been striving to develop the cloud computing industry. It has an advantageous industrial basis that is characterized by seven key aspects, Hohhot Daily reported on Oct 14.

● Physiographic conditions

Hohhot has a typical temperate continental monsoon climate with annual average temperature at 8 C, which is favorable for the natural cooling of large equipment. During a period lasting seven to eight months throughout the year, there is no need for air-conditioning systems in the city, which helps to cut operation costs in the cloud computing industry.

Moreover, most of Hohhot is far from seismic belts and boasts stable geographic structures. Therefore, the cloud computing industry can enjoy a relatively safe and stable operation environment in the city.

China Telecom’s Inner Mongolia Information Park. To date, a batch of renowned enterprises, including Baidu and Sogou, have already began operating in the park. ● Exceptional advantages as capital

As the capital of Inner Mongolia, Hohhot is home to key S&T research institutions, academies, colleges and universities, and a large amount of professionals. There are 22 universities and colleges in Hohhot. There are a total of about 80,000 new graduates from these schools. In a word, Hohhot has 70 percent of the region’s education and scientific and technological resources, and a strong base for enterprise demand in regards to professionals.

Hohhot is also home to the region's governmental organs and the headquarters of some enterprises, creating immense development potential for cloud computing popularization.

● Ample power supply

One of China’s three power grids, the western Inner Mongolia power grid, is in Hohhot and a guarantee for power supply. The power supply in the regional capital is not only stable but also very economic. Moreover, Hohhot can provide approval for the establishment of a supporting power plant for cloud computing enterprises. To date, Hohhot has an installed power capacity of 843 kilowatts in total. For giant power consumers, the municipality will give them a competitive price to help them cut production costs.
