Calligraphy highlights Inner Mongolia's Wuhai

The sixth China Wuhai Calligraphy Art Festival, also known as the third International Calligraphy Industry Expo, was unveiled in the city of Wuhai, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Oct 18.

According to the event's agenda, a series of cultural activities were arranged during the two days, including a high-end calligraphy forum, a collection auction, a tea ceremony performance and exhibition, and sales of four articles of study, namely a writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper.

The opening ceremony of China Contemporary Calligraphy Gallery was held in tandem with the calligraphy industry expo’s opening. This art gallery was officially put into use this October as the largest calligraphy gallery in China. A total of over 1,500 calligraphy works was exhibited in the gallery during the calligraphy art festival, including the gallery's collection.

Wuhai has a remarkable foundation in calligraphy art, which is also its regional cultural highlight. It was hailed as "China's City of Calligraphy in 2007." From then on, a series of policies and measures were put forward by the city to promote its calligraphy industry and expand the related culture.
