On August 28, a supply and demand matching meeting of raw material products and equipment manufacturing products of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region was held in the city of Baotou. A total of 30 key enterprises in power, transport, railway, housing construction and chemical industries reached agreements of purchase at the meeting, with the total value of agreements reaching 6 billion yuan ($977.93 million).

The event attracted 240 representatives from relevant departments of the autonomous region and over 130 enterprises. It has been endeavoring to explore an effective approach to guarantee long-term stability and mutual growth of supply and demand in the autonomous region. In accordance with uniform, open and orderly competitive market rules, the local government will help to establish a platform for solving the contradiction between supply and demand to achieve win-win supply and demand and develop a regular work mechanism.

In recent years, the central government has given increasing support to Inner Mongolia and approved a batch of projects related to energy, chemicals, highways, railways, civil aviation infrastructure construction, civil engineering, real estate, construction, strategic emerging industries, the new material industry and the environment protection industry. The investment of these projects totals more than 2 trillion yuan, and it will create new demand for raw materials and equipment manufacturing products.

To encourage supply and demand cooperation, the Inner Mongolia government has released two documents, namely Some Recommendations of the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Supporting the Rapid Development of Modern Equipment Manufacturing and Some Recommendations of the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Promoting Sales of Raw Material Products and Equipment Manufacturing Products.

The matching meeting, however, is only the beginning. It will help establish a preliminary information platform and communication mechanism. In the future, the autonomous region will establish a long-term mechanism and regularly explore and examine supply and demand matching so as to implement the policies listed in the two documents.
