Contract signed by CGGC for Hydropower Stations on the Santa Cruz River in Argentina

In El Calafate, Santa Cruz province, Argentina on Oct 31, CGGC officially signed a contract with the country’s Department of Federal Planning, Public Investment and Services for the Finance, Design, Construction and 15-year operation & maintenance of President Nestor Kirchner Hydropower Station and Governor Jorge Saipan Nick Hydropower Station on the Santa Cruz River.

The project's total installed capacity is 1.74 million kilowatts, where six Francis turbines will be installed for the President Power Station to reach a generating capacity of 1.14 million kilowatts and five axial-flow hydraulic turbines will be installed for the Governor Power Station to achieve a generating capacity of 600,000 kilowatts.

When completed in 66 months, the project, as one of the country's national key projects, will not only be able to provide strong power for Argentina's economic and social development but also enable her to export electricity to neighboring countries that are suffering from power shortage. So far, it is the largest overseas project ever undertaken by Chinese companies, exceeding the NJ Project in Pakistan in terms of construction scale.
