Electrification Project in rural areas of northern Laos completed ahead of schedule

May 30 witnessed the successful power transmission of the last section in Oudomxay province, marking the Electrification Project in rural areas of northern Laos undertaken by CGGC completed all onsite construction works 5 months and 9 days ahead of the schedule.

Since the signing of the contract, the Project Department of CGGC has adhered to the principle of “equity, credit, mutual benefits” and dedicated to help social progress and improvement local people’s livelihood with quality project and sound internal management. The Department was also commended by the Prime Minister of Laos, local provincial government, Electricite du Laos (EDL), local electricity company, and the Chinese embassy and economic counselor's office for the excellent quality and early completion of the Project and zero safety, quality and environment accidents during the construction.

The department is now preparing documents for completion to make a good ending.

The project covers urban and rural areas in seven provinces in northern Laos within 24 months. This is a priority project in the power development plan for 2020 and a key electrification project of the country. It will benefit about 30,000 households of 229 villages in the seven northern provinces and greatly improve local livelihood and boost economic development.
