CGGC Electrification Project starts power supply in rural areas of northern Laos

On April 15, the first day of local Water-splashing Festival and New Year in Laos, the Electrification Project in northern rural areas of Laos undertaken by CGGC started power supply in Houaphanh. Government officials of Laos led by Prime Minister Thongsing and CGGC staff representatives attended the ceremony marking the launch of power supply.

Managing Director & CEO of Electricite du Laos (EDL) Mr Sisavath highly commended the management, construction and progress of the project. He said that they had made the best decision in choosing the contractor. Governor Hueangvongsy of Houaphanh extended full recognition to CGGC’s efforts and professionalism shown in the construction of the project. He said that Laos and CGGC shared a brilliant future in cooperation and hoped the latter could involve more in infrastructure projects in Houaphanh and the country to benefit the people of Laos.

Ren Jianguo, assistant to CGGC President and BOD Chairman of CGGC International, said that CGGC would make more efforts to help Laos improve its livelihood and economy. Mr Ren, on behalf of CGGC, also brought a donation totaled Kip200 million for local education and social welfare.

Prime Minister Thongsing cut the ribbons and released balloons at the ceremony, and spoke highly of CGGC’s unwaveringly adhering to mutual development with local areas, actively performing social responsibilities and promoting China-Laos friendship.

The project covers urban and rural areas in seven provinces in northern Laos, including the installation of 1,030 kilometers 22 kilovolts transmission and transformer lines, 232 transformers and 246 kilometers 400 volts low-tension wire for civil use within 24 months. This is a priority project of Laos power development plan for 2020 and a key electrification project of the country. After completion, it will benefit over 16,000 households and greatly improve local livelihood and boost economic development.
