On May 27, 2010, Nie Kai, vice president of CGGC, warmly received Somdy Douangdy, the Laotian Minister of Finance who paid a visit to CGGC. Both sides agreed to strengthen the cooperation, and jointly propel the engineering projects undertaken by CGGC in Laos to derive benefits at an early date.

Laos is an important part of the Southeast Asian market of CGGC. Since 2000, CGGC has in succession undertaken the national 2# road, the Oudo Mxay urban water supply expansion project, and the water supply & hygiene project in the four northern provinces in the country. All these projects have been fully recognized by the Laotian government because of their excellent quality.

In 2009, CGGC signed the EPC contracts on the Houay Lamphan Gnai hydropower station project and the Northern Rural Electrification Project with EDL, the Laotian state electric power company. This has further deepened its involvement in the Laotian infrastructure market.

Nie Kai introduced the development course of CGGC and the achievements it has made in recent years. Nie Kai assured CGGC would select excellent technicians and management staff to form the first-class project team, and contribute to the smooth completion of the said projects and their early service.

Somdy Douangdy admired the strengths and achievements of CGGC. He pointed out Laos is the country with the richest hydraulic energy resources in the Southeast Asia, and expected CGGC to take an active part in the hydropower development and convert the hydraulic energy resources into the power for the economic development and well-being improvement in Laos. He said the Laotian government would spare no effort to support CGGC in constructing the hydropower station project and the rural power grid reconstruction project, and hoped both parties would continue strengthening the cooperation to contribute more to the economic development in Laos.
