Ruzhou has made great efforts to improve the drinking water in villages in the city.

In 2012, the city built a water plant, a centralized water supply station and a reservoir pumping station, which has brought safe water to 34,000 villagers and 6,000 teachers and students in 13 villages and 15 schools.

The city has invested 18.8 million yuan ($3.06 million) in the project, which started last November. Of the investment, 11.28 million yuan comes from the central government and 5.48 million yuan comes from the provincial government.
