Ruzhou has sped up the transformation of its economic development pattern since 2012. Projects have been utilized to adjust economic structure and promote transformation. Project construction has also been accelerated. Ruzhou’s five provincial key projects in 2012 were completely financed with 720 million yuan ($116 million), among which new projects accounted for 170 million yuan ($27 million). Twenty-five key projects in Pingdingshan had an accumulated investment of 3 billion yuan ($480 million).

From the fourth quarter of 2012 to the end of 2013, Henan province will carry forward 10,000 major project propulsion plans across eight fields. Of the projects, 5,000 will be newly-started and another 5,000 will continue construction. Total investment of the projects will be 1.4 trillion yuan ($225 billion). Sixty-two of Ruzhou’s key construction projects in 2013 have been enrolled in the major project propulsion plan. Thirty-three of the 62 projects will be new while another 29 will continue construction. Investment in these projects will be 9.1 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) by the end of 2013.
