A total of 300 poor rural families in Jingyuan county, Baiyin city, Gansu province got their new houses recently thanks to a local relocation project.

The new residence construction project was funded by the Taiwan Tzu Chi Foundation and the Jingyuan county government, with 57.90 million yuan ($9.07million) of investment.

The project aims to relocate 1,500 people from 300 low income households living in Jingyuan's impoverished mountainous area and improve their living condition.

By September, construction of 300 new residences, covering 33,540 square meters, was completed.

Each family received a new dwelling covering an area of 374 square meters with 10 rooms and other buildings such as housing for livestock and reservoir.
