Northwestern China's Gansu province sent a delegation, headed by Hao Yuan, vice-governor of Gansu, to Karamay in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Oct 28 to exchange views on urban planning and development, the Karamay Daily reported.

The Gansu delegation, accompanied by Chen Xinfa, Karamay's Party chief, visited the Karamay Engineering Education Base, Big Data Center and PetroChina's Data Storage Center. Both sides held in-depth discussions concerning the development directions of resource-based cities.

Hao praised Karamay's development path. "While developing itself into a world class oil city, Karamay also pays significant attention to finance, information, education and tourism sectors. Such integrated development will boost local economy and improve residents' living quality, which is worth learning from," he said.

The two sides agreed to have more bilateral exchanges and communication in the future and seek further cooperation opportunities.

Karamay Mayor Zhang Hongyan and Vice-Mayor Liu Botao were also present at the meeting.
