A volunteer group of 46 high school and college students from Hong Kong, the United States, Sweden, and Singapore arrived at No 4 Middle School of Huining county to teach students English speaking for one week.
The activity was organized by HOPE worldwide's affiliate in Hong Kong, aiming to deliver sustainable and high-impact education to the poor and needy.
Huining county, in Baiyin city, is well-known for education achievements. The county ranks first among Gansu's cities and counties in the number of top students in the college entrance exam. The county's government struggled with poverty in recent years, with many charities and non-governmental organizations in support.
