"What a day. Even with everything that's happened, I still love this fairytale-like country. I will attend a court hearing at noon, local time (on Dec 8), and come face to face with the suspect. The court will also confirm the sum of lost goods," wrote Liu on her Sina Weibo account on Dec 8, Beijing time.

According to a report by Tencent, when the suspect stole the safe, he did not know whom it belonged to or whether there were valuable goods inside. The indictment showed that there were three rings, one pair of earrings, a wristwatch and some cash in the safe. Most items have been reclaimed, but the suspect, who has already pleaded guilty, said the sum of cash in the safe is less than the amount stated in the indictment. The suspect is due to stand trial.

"I want to thank the Denmark police for their support, Ambassador Liu Biwei for his timely comfort and guidance and the Chinese Embassy to Denmark for the follow-ups. This incident has attracted the attention of institutions at home and abroad. I am also very grateful for the love and support from leaders and friends. The weather in Denmark may be cold, but my heart is warm inside out," Liu added.
