Taylor Swift sends Olympian personal message

Taylor Swift's gown was attacked by her cat moments before the Met Gala.

The 'I Knew You Were Trouble' singer almost had to walk the red carpet in rags on Monday when her beloved feline friend Meredith unleashed her claws on Taylor's stunning pale pink Oscar de la Renta dress just before the prestigious event in New York City.

She wrote on Twitter: "That moment when your cat casually walks up, then abruptly ATTACKS your custom satin Oscar de la Renta gown during your fitting for Met Ball."

The 24-year-old singer had a lucky escape since there were no signs of the Scottish Fold's savage attack on the gown, which boasted intricate feathered embroidery and a train so long that she needed assistance to get up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.

Taylor couldn't get over her luck at being dressed by Oscar de la Renta for the A-list event.

She gushed: "Oscar de la Renta is the designer I've idolized since I was a little girl. Having an opportunity to wear a one-of-kind gown designed by him is a daydream realized."

The country starlet got ready for the big night at the nearby Surrey Hotel with her close friend, Victoria's Secret model Karlie Kloss.

Taylor posted a picture of the pair puckering up on her Instagram account, showing them applying lipstick with a glass of champagne in hand.

She captioned the image: "Hair/makeup/Motown dance party @karliekloss."
