Better rule of law in the governments can be expected if lawyers or legal consultants are hired to provide their inputs in the running of the administration, a national political adviser said on Monday.

At a press conference held during the ongoing annual "two sessions", Wang Junfeng, director of the All-China Lawyers Association, who's also a CPPCC member, said with their services, legal experts will play a more important role in the better governance and management of society.

In recent years, regional governments, including Shanghai and Guangdong province, have made attempts to use legal services, adding the expense in their annual purchasing list.

"For a long time, our government did not have a special fund for the legal services, which created a lot of problems for the industry," he said. "But a decision announced at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee last year highlighted the role of legal consultants. It's an important opportunity to improve the society."

He also said legal services are of special significance in promoting rule of law in China and a vital step forward for the government.
