Chinese VP wraps up Irish tour

DUBLIN - Visiting Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping wrapped up his official visit to Ireland on Monday afternoon and headed for Turkey to continue his three-nation trip.

During his three-day stay in Ireland, among other events, Xi met with Irish President Michael D. Higgins and held talks with Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny, who had invited Xi for the visit.

Earlier on Sunday, Xi visited a farm in the suburb of Shannon in southwestern part of Ireland. On Sunday afternoon, Xi came to Dublin and watched Gaelic football and hurling matches, which are typical and most popular games in Ireland. On Sunday night, Xi watched River Dance of Ireland, a well-known Irish dancing gala.

On Monday, after meeting with President Higgins, Xi met with Irish parliament leaders and addressed a business forum before he left for Ankara, capital city of Turkey.
