UNITED NATIONS - Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Wednesday met UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the annual UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, Yang spoke positively of the important role the UN and its secretary-general played in international affairs, pledging Chinese support for the UN's leading role in Libya's post-conflict arrangement and work of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
Ban expressed his gratitude for China's support for the UN and his own work, stressing the UN would enhance cooperation with China in international affairs including Libya's post-war reconstruction process.
They also exchanged views on issues such as sustainable development, the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, Sudan, and the Israeli-Palestanian conflict.
