JINAN - Police confirmed on Saturday that 22 fishermen are still missing after a fishing vessel was pulled back to a port in East China's Shandong province.
"Major crimes" occurred on the vessel during its trip, the Rongcheng Public Security Bureau said in a statement, citing an initial investigation.
Lurongyu 2682 lost contact with its parent company on June 18 near the coast of Chile. It was found on July 25 just east of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and pulled back to shore on Friday by a ship from China's fishery administration, the bureau said.
Thirty-three crew members were onboard when the vessel left port in December, but only 11 came back, it said.
A further investigation is under way.
