BEIJING -- Chinese top political advisor Jia Qinglin met here Thursday with visiting Thai Princess Sirindhorn.
Speaking highly of the China-Thailand relations, Jia said the two countries had a profound basis of traditional friendship, and have conducted frequent high-level exchanges of visits and substantial cooperation in various fields. He highly praised the Thai household and Sirindhorn for their contribution to the China-Thailand friendship.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), also briefed the guests on the First Session of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC and China's strategy to revitalize its northeastern old industrial base.
Sirindhorn said she cherishes a deep affection for China, and every time she visits China she is impressed with the great changes taking place in the country. She said Thailand and China share similar culture, and she is willing to continue to contribute to the development of China-Thailand friendship and bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
Sirindhorn is paying an eight-day visit to China from April 2 to 9 at the invitation of the Chinese government. This is 25th visit by the Thai princess to China.
