Statues of Emperors Yan and Huang are illuminated with lights in Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. [dahe.cn]

Five hundred and ten lights have illuminated the two huge statues of Emperors Yan and Huang in Zhengzhou, the capital of central China's Henan province, aiming to attract more tourists.

Local website DAHE.CN reports that passengers taking the Beijing-Guangzhou artery railway would have the opportunity to appreciate the charming scenery of the statues glowing with colorful lights at night.

The statues, situated inside the Yellow River scenic zone of the city, look out over a large plaza from the top of a hill. The statues stand 106 meters tall, two meters higher than the world-famous Statue of Mother Russia in Stalingrad.

The two statues were built at a cost of 180 million yuan (US$ 22.5 million), from donations and government funds.
