Cisco, the world's largest telecom equipment maker, yesterday announced a plan to cut up to 6,000 employees globally. It did not say how many employees will lose their jobs in China, one of the world's biggest IT consumers.

Sharp Corporation is a Japanese multinational corporation that designs and manufactures electronic products.
In 2005, Sharp founded a company in Shanghai and brought in the cell phone business in 2008. Beijing News reported in 2013 that Sharp would lay off more than 70 staff that year in the cell phone business, with most of the sacking happening in its sales department.
