Belarus may expand co-op with China's Sinomach

MINSK - Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich said on Thursday that his country is interested in expanding cooperation with China's largest machinery manufacturer Sinomach.

The prime minister said several projects, including the creation of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park and the construction of a factory to make sulfated bleached pulp in Svetlogorsk, a town on the coast of the Baltic Sea, are being implemented in Belarus with the assistance of Sinomach (China National Machinery Industry Corporation), during his meeting here with Sinomach Chairman of the Board Ren Hongbin.

According to the prime minister, Sinomach performs contract work within the framework of projects in Belarus to the tune of $1.7 billion.

Ren Hongbin, for his part, expressed confidence in the further development of the mutually beneficial partnership with Belarus, saying that Sinomach is working to attract China's largest industrial enterprises to the industrial park, which will house new major plants to produce household appliances and electronics, engineering and biomedicine facilities.

The park will be run by an administration consisting of specialists of the two countries. It will be located in Smolevichi District, Minsk Oblast, and will gradually spread over 80 square kilometers.
