Yang Zhiming, vice-minister of the MOHRSS, said that as the economy is recovering, more than 10 provinces have raised their minimum wage standards this year, by an average of 17 percent.
Another 20 provinces are expected to follow suit this year, the MOHRSS said in April.
The last time much of China increased its minimum wage was two years ago, before the financial crisis.
