Jaguar Land Rover sales up in China

By Li Fusheng | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2017-05-08 17:00

Jaguar Land Rover sold 10,059 cars in China in April, up 10 percent year-on-year. The British premium carmaker has seen monthly sales grow year-on-year for 16 months in a row in its largest market worldwide.

In the first four months, JLR sold 43,648 units in the country, a 19 percent growth from the same period last year.

JLR sold 3,244 Jaguar cars in April, a 234 percent surge year-on-year. The brand's exceptional performance was boosted by the locally produced sedan XFL and the imported SUV F-PACE, according to the carmaker.

More than 6,800 of the more popular Land Rover brand were sold in the month, with the imported Range Rover and locally produced Discovery Sport models at the centre of this development.

Frank Wittemann, JLR's sales head in China, expects the growth momentum to continue as the carmaker is to introduce more models into the country, including the Ranger Rover Velar unveiled earlier this year in London.

JLR now has more than 200 dealerships in China and is planning to expand its sales network to reach more smaller cities.
