Also targeting overseas markets was ZTE Corp, a Shenzhen, Guangdong-based telecom equipment maker.

The company unveiled a portable smart projector at the MWC, taking on Japanese makers such as Seiko Epson Corp and Hitachi Ltd.

The device provides services such as voice conference and projection. When connected to a camera, the device also supports multi-party video communication via Skype.

"Innovation represents the key value for Chinese technology companies which are eager to compete in the global market," said Zeng Xuezhong, executive vice-president of ZTE and CEO of ZTE Mobile Devices.

"ZTE has two core competitiveness in both domestic and overseas market-innovation and localization," Zeng said.

"In the eyes of our foreign consumers, ZTE stands for innovation rather than copycat or duplicate," he said.

Gao Yuan in Beijing contributed to this story.
