President's bilateral meetings underscore deep collaboration

Editor's Note: President Xi Jinping held a series of bilateral meetings with foreign leaders both on Wednesday and Thursday in Johannesburg on the sidelines of the 15th BRICS Summit.

China and Africa need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation more than ever before, amid profound and complex changes in the international landscape, President Xi Jinping said in the meeting with Senegalese President Macky Sall.
Xi said that China supports the African Union's accession to the G20.
China will continue to uphold the principles of "sincerity, real results, amity and good faith" and the principles of "pursuing the greater good and shared interests" to share its own development experience and opportunities with African brothers in order to promote the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, he said.
He added that China is willing to continue strengthening communication and coordination with Senegal and promote the implementation of the nine programs for China-Africa cooperation, making new contributions to consolidating unity and cooperation between China and Africa.
Xi commended the development of bilateral ties, and called Senegal an important cooperation partner for China in Africa.
In recent years, through joint efforts, the political mutual trust between China and Senegal has deepened continuously, and fruitful cooperation has been achieved in various fields, he said.
China firmly supports Senegal's efforts to maintain national stability and development, and is willing to strengthen mutual support and deepen cooperation in areas such as industry, agriculture, infrastructure construction and human resources development, in order to jointly safeguard legitimate development rights, Xi said.
Sall said that Senegal and China are high-quality comprehensive strategic partners, and President Xi is a great friend of Africa and Senegal.
Senegal firmly adheres to the one-China policy and appreciates China's pursuit of a foreign policy of peace, he said.
The cooperation between China and Africa is dynamic and aligns with the development needs of African countries, and has effectively supported the economic and social development of African countries, he added.
