China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Namibia in all areas, including clean energy, and will encourage Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the African country, President Xi Jinping said when meeting with Namibian President Hage Geingob.

Xi expressed China's appreciation to Geingob, saying that the Namibian president is an old friend of the Chinese people who has a deep friendship with China and takes a firm stance in supporting issues concerning China's core interests.

The Chinese president noted that shared historical experiences and struggles have helped forge a heartfelt bond between China and Africa. It is China's diplomatic tradition to treat all countries as equals and with mutual respect despite their sizes, he added.

While the Communist Party of China has led the Chinese people to a socialist path with Chinese characteristics, the CPC is also striving to build a community with a shared future for mankind, Xi said.

He said that China is working to help developing countries achieve common prosperity and strive for more equal rights through a series of initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative.

Geingob hailed China as an all-weather friend of his country and more importantly a friend that can be relied on in the face of difficulties.

Namibia sincerely thanks China for supporting it in striving for national independence and liberation as well as developing the country, Geingob said.

Inspired by China, Namibia is currently exploring a modernization path with its own characteristics, he said.
