President's bilateral meetings underscore deep collaboration

China is willing to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Bangladesh, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and push the China-Bangladesh strategic partnership of cooperation to a new level, President Xi Jinping said while meeting with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Xi pointed out that China and Bangladesh have a traditional friendship, and both countries are at a critical stage of development and revitalization.
China supports Bangladesh in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, opposing external interference, and maintaining domestic unity and stability to achieve development and revitalization, he said, adding that both countries should continue supporting each other on issues concerning their core interests.
While emphasizing the need to strengthen strategic communication and enhance exchanges at various levels, Xi said that it is necessary for both countries to promote high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road, give full play to the complementary advantages of the two economies, and strengthen cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, information technology, new energy, and agriculture.
China congratulates Bangladesh on joining the New Development Bank, and is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Bangladesh in multilateral affairs to safeguard international fairness and justice as well as the common interests of developing countries, he added.
Hasina said that the good relations between Bangladesh and China are based on mutual respect and noninterference in each other's internal affairs. She said that the joint construction of the Belt and Road has opened a new door for Bangladesh's development.
Bangladesh firmly adheres to the one-China policy and appreciates China's important role in promoting regional peace and stability, Hasina said, adding that Bangladesh is willing to deepen bilateral relations with China, and strengthen cooperation in BRICS and other multilateral mechanisms.
