Ethiopia

Beijing will encourage more businesses to invest in Ethiopia, and the nation welcomes the Ethiopian side to take advantage of the "green channel" for African agricultural exports to China to expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation, President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday.
Speaking during talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Xi underscored that China is a reliable friend and sincere partner of Ethiopia. He said that China is advancing its own pathway to modernization through high-quality development, which will bring new opportunities for cooperation between China and Ethiopia.
The Chinese side highly values its relationship with Ethiopia, supports Ethiopia's domestic peace process and development, and is willing to engage closely with Ethiopia to expand comprehensive cooperation, he said.
Both sides should continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns, he said.
Xi highlighted the need to align the Belt and Road Initiative with Ethiopia's 10-Year Development Plan (2021-30) and accelerate the development of joint projects including the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway and green development.
China is willing to work with the Ethiopian side to implement the Outlook on Peace and Development in the Horn of Africa and contribute to regional peace and stability, Xi said.
Ahmed sincerely thanked China for its valuable and long-standing support to Ethiopia, adding that Ethiopia has undergone significant development and transformation in recent years with the assistance and cooperation of China.
He stressed that Ethiopia is willing to deepen cooperation with China in areas such as agriculture and mining, and the nation hopes to join BRICS to enhance cooperation in multilateral mechanisms.
