Argentine, Brazil agree to cooperate on energy, technology(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-02-23 09:49 BUENOS AIRES - Argentina President Cristina Fernandez and her Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva agreed here on Friday to carry out cooperation on sectors of energy and technology. According to official sources, the two leaders signed 17 accords at the Argentina Presidential Palace on the development of nanotechnology, aeronautics, nuclear energy, defense programs as well as construction of hydroelectric power plants and electricity grids. On Thursday, Lula pledged to ensure a steady supply of electricity to Argentine during peak winter months to alleviate power shortages in the country. The two leaders will be joined by their Bolivian counterpart Evo Morales on Saturday, and they are expected to discuss the energy situation in 2008 winter season and the Bolivian gas deliveries to Argentine and Brazil, local media said. |
