DUBAI - Serbian Novak Djokovic won on late Saturday the final of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi World Championship 2013 in two straight sets 7-5, 6-2 against Spain's David Ferrer, marking his first tournament victory under his new coach, Germany's tennis legend Boris Becker.

In the Abu Dhabi tennis complex of Zayed Sports City, the 26-year-old "Djoker" as his fans call him, currently the world's number two of men's tennis, kept Ferrer at bay throughout the match with his string forehand and powerful long balls.

The Serbian body height of 1.88 meters also proofed to be an advantage against 31-year old Spaniard, who is 1.75 meters tall and currently ranked 3 in the ATP men's tennis world ranking.

Djokovic appointed Becker who won Wimbledon in 1986 as the youngest male player ever at age 17 as his new coach on December 19. With his victory in Abu Dhabi, the 42nd in his professional career, Djokovic cashed in 250,000 dollar prize money.

He received the tournament's trophy from the United Arab Emirates minister of culture Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan.
