The Siming district of Xiamen city – located in East China's Fujian province – launched a third round of all-inclusive nucleic acid tests in the Lianqian and Yundang sub-districts on Aug 7 with all coming in negative, according to the Xiamen municipal health commission.

The Qianpu community of Lianqian sub-district was recognized as a medium risk area on Aug 1. The closure and isolation of people inside and outside the communities was then carried out.

The all-inclusive nucleic acid testing launched on Aug 7 was the fifth time it had been performed in Qianpu community. As before, the latest round set up a total of four test sites, with 120 medical staff taking samples. The number of detection windows was increased to 19.

For residents in the strict control area, the relevant departments arranged four groups of medical workers to provide door-to-door service.

Of note, was that the on-site nucleic acid testing was configured with the new portable nucleic acid input equipment, replacing the original collection equipment – a laptop, a scanner gun and an ID card identifier – with a handheld device – the size of a cell phone.

This is said to have reduced the burden on medical staff and greatly improved detection efficiency.
