The management committee of the Frisbee department of Chinese Extreme Sports Association was officially settled in Xiamen's Siming district, Fujian province, local media reported July 30.

Since Frisbees were introduced to China years ago, interest in them has developed rapidly. At present, there are roughly 200,000 Frisbee enthusiasts in China and Frisbee competitions are held every year across the country.

Based in Xiamen, the management committee will standardize the Frisbee industry nationwide, and develop three national competitions – an Ultimate Frisbee championship for college students, a professional Frisbee competition and an Ultimate Frisbee city tour – according to a committee official.

Xiamen has been attaching great importance to the popularization and development of extreme sports in recent years.

The first Ultimate Frisbee championship for college students took place in Xiamen on May 19, and the 2019 Xiamen Beach Ultimate Open will be held in Siming on Oct 26-27.
