Hanergy, a multinational clean energy company, and BAIC BJEV, a leading new energy electromobile producer, signed a strategic cooperation agreement on thin film solar energy applications on Dec 15.

The cooperation will include vehicle sunroof solutions, new energy vehicle battery swap stations, shared electronic vehicles, distributed energy resources in industrial parks and factories, poverty alleviation through agricultural PV and special town development.

This marks a milestone for Hanergy in applying thin film solar energy technology in the electronic automobile industry, currently the main direction for automobile producers both at home and abroad.

A leader in thin film solar technology, Hanergy owns five state-of-the-art technologies in the industry applicable to copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) and gallium arsenide (GaAs), two main technology solutions.

Its thin film solar energy chip features high power transformation efficiency, light weight and good flexibility, and enjoys a promising future in the vehicle market.

A giant in the new energy electromobile industry, BAIC BJEV will apply Hanergy’s building-integrated power-producing thin film solution to build a distributed energy sources system in its vehicle parks and manufacturing bases to supply power and build a green ecology.

In addition, the two sides will build a special town equipped with a thin film solar energy roof, charging piles and new energy vehicles.

Zheng Gang, party secretary and general manager of BAIC BJEV, expects that their cooperation will contribute to the green and sustainable development of the vehicle industry.

Founded in 2009, BJEV has been the sales champion in the electrical vehicle industry for four consecutive years. It now aims at leading in new energy vehicle upgrading in China.

Si Haijian, executive chairman and CEO of Hanergy, says that the cooperation between Hanergy and BJEV shows the determination and confidence of Chinese enterprises to optimize energy production, consumption patterns and environmental benefit.

Hanergy will also promote its value chain in the vehicle industry and continue to boost development of the new energy sector.
