Tinglin Garden's beautiful scenery and historical relics have long been one the cultural jewels of Kunshan, Jiangsu province. Now, this jewel is set to shine even brighter, as the city invests in major renovation work to spruce up the 110-year-old gardens.

An area covering 672,000 square meters is set to be renovated, stretching from Huancheng Road to Ma'anshan Road, and extending to Yehe River in the west.

The work is designed to better integrate the garden's gorgeous views with its cultural remains, transforming the garden into an environmentally-friendly and recreational center.

The first phase of the project, which affects 199,000 sq m of the park in total including famous attractions such as Suiyuan Garden, Ancient City Wall and Small West Lake, was initiated in late October and is estimated to be completed next June.

Some ancient-style buildings, such as the Sun-setting Pavilion, Flower Rain Terrace and Buttonwood Tower, are now under construction, and will add more flavor to the garden.

The park will remain open throughout the project, but visitors should use caution when passing near the construction areas and pay attention to the signs posted in the garden.
