International Mobile Internet Industry Summit launches in Chengdu

The 2013 International Mobile Internet Industry Summit opens in Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan, on April 11 and 12.

The 2013 International Mobile Internet Industry Summit was held on April 11 and 12. Leaders of domestic and overseas mobile Internet enterprises including Baidu, HTC, Google, Qualcomm, SAP, Huawei, Microsoft, Lenovo and Tencent met in Chengdu to discuss the future of the mobile Internet.

The Chengdu High-Tech Zone together with Deloitte released the 2013 International Mobile Internet Industry Annual Report during the summit.

The report overviews the distribution of the mobile Internet industry in the world. It also points out new business models in the mobile Internet industry by researching how traditional industries carry on strategies in the mobile Internet era.

"Mobile Internet will become the fastest growing industry in China, as well as in the world as a whole," said William Chou, Deloitte China TMT managing partner. He said the mobile Internet will unleash unlimited amounts of imagination, and will certainly impact everyone's daily life and Internet surfing habits.

For this reason, the mobile Internet industry has been chosen as a strategic industry of the Chengdu High-Tech Zone, said Han Chunlin, assistant mayor of Chengdu city and director of the Chengdu High-Tech Zone management committee. "We will give priority support with superior resources and abundant funding to the mobile industry."

Specifically, 1 billion yuan ($161.6 million) will be provided as initial capital for the industry's development, and the capital scale will increase year by year.

The Chengdu High-Tech Zone has 500 mobile Internet companies to date, double the amount in 2011. It has incubated many mobile Internet stars such as Camera 360 and Nibitu Tech.
