NE China to boost aviation

2015-12-11

The city of Jilin in Jilin province has announced plans to boost its aviation during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020), because of its solid foundation in aviation, with two airports, an aviation college and a maintenance company, but, still lacks a development framework.

In commenting on the move, one senior aviation official says, "We're going to have an aviation industrial park soon with the focus on logistic and trade," and the city says it has a big industrial development plan with the emphasis on aviation industries and personnel training.

The city has produced private aircraft to enter the high-end market, with two light planes manufactured locally rolling off assembly line last month.

Chen Jian, a manager at the Jilin Sunward Equipment Co, says they cost around 1.2-million yuan ($186,000), and have a three-month waiting time.
