Jilin's 2015 new rice hit the market at a press conference in the Changbaishan International Hotel in Beijing, on Oct 25, 2015. The conference was hosted by the Jilin government.

Jilin Rice: "Four advantages" breeds delicious flavor

At the press conference, Sui Zhongcheng, vice-governor of Jilin introduced four of the province's unique advantages for rice cultivation.

First, Changbai Mountain is rich in forests and plant life. Second, Jilin's many rivers are unpolluted and have clean water. Third, the province's black earth is rich and fertile. Fourth, the climate is appropriate for rice cultivation. Unique geographical advantages and the natural environment ensure the quality of Jilin rice.

Jilin Rice: Delicious, nutritious and safer

Wu Xinghong, an agricultural specialist, explained at the press conference that good varieties are one of the important factors which make Jilin rice nutritious, delicious, and much safer. After long cultivation and selection, there are more than 40 varieties of rice in Jilin province, accounting for more than 95 percent of the province's rice cultivation.

Jilin Rice: long history and fame

Jilin province's rice cultivation has a long history. It had been famous since the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907), and became the designated imperial Kongmy in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

The promotion activities of Jilin rice start in Beijing, which will further promote the integration of Jilin food with the Beijing market.

At present, Jilin rice is available in more than 2000 supermarkets in Beijing.
