A banyan worth of 100,000 yuan ($16,000) has been a stand-out among the many types of plants on display at the Changchun Agriculture Expo, in the city of Changchun, Jilin province, according to a local website report of Aug 10.

The tree sits at the center of an international garden and, according to Xiao Yu, one of the staff members, "It is the most expensive and biggest plant in the garden and it took us two and a half days to bring it here from Guangdong province in the south."

Banyans are very ornamental trees, with large branches that spread out very wide and put out shoots that descend to the ground and develop other trunks.

The garden organizers say they will provide more space for the tree after the expo.
