Jilin makes effort to fight against pollution

2015-02-02

Jilin province has completed a national goal for energy-saving and emission reduction, one of the targets of the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), China’s macroeconomic plan, ahead of time, according to an announcement recently published by Jilin provincial environmental protection office.

The report says that Jilin paid special attention to environmental protection during 2014 with an investment of 3.2 billion yuan, particularly in the application of new construction materials.

The province also upgraded its sewage disposal system, and tried to deal with other sources of pollution, including household rubbish, coal and old vehicles.

"The provincial government hopes to provide a better livelihood for its people by improving the eco-system," the report says.

It also says that Jilin will put much effort into environmental protection in the upcoming 13th Five-Year Plan.
