2014-10-11

Huang Yanming, chairman of the Jilin committee of the CPPCC, recently led a delegation to Macao and had an extensive exchange with political officials and personnel from business circles there, as well as Macao members of the Jilin committee of the CPPCC and the foreign affairs committee. Both sides also had an in-depth discussion of bilateral cooperation in many fields.

Edmund Ho Hau Wah, vice chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Li Gang, director of the liaison office in Macao, and the delegation visited a Jilin-Macao painting and calligraphy exhibition in celebration of the 15th anniversary of Macao's return. They were attracted by more than 100 paintings from the two regions.

Works from Jilin are mainly ink and wash as well as calligraphy, while those from Macao are mostly oil painting and watercolors. The audience said that all works are distinctive and show profound connotations of the Chinese culture. They hoped that both sides could make full use of cultural exchanges to conduct cooperation in more fields.

In recent years, Jilin and Macao have seen increasing personnel and commercial exchanges and very broad prospects for cooperation. The Jilin delegation visited the Macao Chamber of Commerce and talked with entrepreneurs in business circles. They discussed the possibility of Macao's entrepreneurs investing in Jilin.

"I've been to Jilin many times and deeply felt the good local ecological environment," said Ma Iao Lai, chairman of the Macao Chamber of Commerce. "We'll give more attention to Jilin and carry out bilateral cooperation, especially in tourism."

Ma Chi Ngai, vice-chairman of the Macao Chamber of Commerce, has laid a special focus on the medical industry. He said that the Changbai Mountains are home to abundant traditional Chinese medicine resources, and Macao should work more closely with Jilin to promote the development of traditional Chinese medicine.
