The Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the Hubei Province has recently circulated a report on the special inspection of "building energy efficiency work and targets completion" in 17 cities (prefectures, municipalities, forest zones) as well as 12 counties (cities, districts) in 2011.

The evaluation of "building energy conservation" includes the assessment of construction of management systems; formulation of supporting policies; execution of laws and regulations; supervision of law enforcement; publicity and training, and completion of tasks in key fields. The inspection also examines the fulfillment of objectives, including the implementation of new building energy efficiency standards; application of renewable energy buildings; development of green architecture; "prohibition of solid clay bricks"; and application of new wall materials.

Based on the inspection results, the province has adopted effective initiatives to implement the national and provincial laws, regulations and standards on building energy efficiency. Building energy conservation is expected to exceed the annual target with a production of 1.05 million tons of equivalent coal in 2012.
