I. What's the National Judicial Examination?

The National Judicial Examinationis a qualification examination to select qualified legal professionals who meet the legal profession requirements for the state and the society. The qualification examination is uniformly organized by the state for those who wish to engage in a certain legal profession. According to the provisions of the Judges Law of the People's Republic of China, the Public Prosecutors Law of the People's Republic of China, the Lawyers Law of the People's Republic of China and the Notary Law of the People's Republic of China, anyone who is to be a judge or public procurator for the first time or who is to be a lawyer or notary must pass the national judicial examination. Since the first national judicial examination which was held in 2002, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has organized 15 national judicial examinations, with more than 4.6 million examinees taking the examination, and has granted over 800,000 people with legal profession qualification, selecting and reserving a large number of qualified legal talents, thus ensuring a strong talent pool for the comprehensively advancing the rule of law in China.
