Dragon Boat Festival holiday railway tickets on sale
Updated: 2014-05-13

Railway tickets for the first day (May 31) of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday officially opened for sale on May 12 with travelers being able to book tickets online or by phone.

They can book tickets online via logging on to China Railway Customer Service Center Website (www.12306.cn) or call 95105105 to book by phone. Sales at railway stations and ticket outlets started on May 14.

According to the National Holiday Office arrangement, the Dragon Boat Festival holiday this year includes May 31, June 1, June 2 – three days in all. Among them, May 31 (Saturday) and June 1 (Sunday) are normal weekend days, and June 2 (Monday and Dragon Boat Festival) is a national holiday.

It's estimated that the first Dragon Boat Festival passenger flow peak will appear on the afternoon of May 30 and again in the morning of May 31 together with the last day for returning. Passengers are dominated by tourists and family visitors for short and medium distance travel. To avoid problems, passengers are recommended to book their tickets well in advance.

For those who travel by car, the national highway access during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday this year is not free.
