Statistics showed that the tourism market in Anhui province boomed during the 2014 Spring Festival Golden Week. Major tourist areas and spots saw continued tourist volume and overall revenue growth.
In total, the province received a total of 17.6 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 8.14 percent, including 3.76 million overnight visitors, a year-on-year increase of 0.46 percent. Total tourism income reached 9.21 billion yuan ($1.5 billion), an increase of 22.39 percent compared with the same time last year.
During the Spring Festival Golden Week, 68 key scenic spots in Anhui received 3.14 million visitors, and ticket sales reached 114 million yuan, an increase of 10.62 percent and 31.59 percent, respectively. The tourist volume growth rates in the Huangshan scenic area, Jiuhua Mountain scenic area, Xidi and other scenic spots reached over 100 percent. On the first day of the holiday, the Jiuhua Mountain scenic area received 20 times more tourists than usual.
This phenomenon not only reflects the impact of weather on travel, but also reflects the changing perception of Spring Festival. Celebrating the festival by traveling has become a popular trend.
