Recommendation 3: Tachuan village, Huangshan city

Best time: Oct to the end of Nov.

Location: Tachuan, or Tashang village, 2km from Hongcun county.

The autumn scene at Tachuan is said to be one of the top three most beautiful autumn places in China. The tallow trees and many other old trees of hundreds years old turn red and yellow in autumn, forming a picturesque scene with the quaint black-tiled cottages scattered along the mountain veins. The place has become one of the hottest shooting locations for professional and amateur photographers.

Built at the mountain’s feet, the ancient local residencies are surrounded by a clear stream curling through the valley.

Tourist tips: Tickets are 20 yuan/person.

Specialty: Laba bean curd.

Self-driving route: Hefei – Hefei-Tongling-Huangshan expressway – Tangkou exit – Hongcun-Rucun highway – Hongcun village. The scenic region is a half-hour walk away from Hongcun village.
