Senior Jiangxi official expelled from CPC

BEIJING - Chen Anzhong, former deputy director of the standing committee of the provincial people's congress in east China's Jiangxi Province, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and public office for "serious disciplinary and legal violations."

The decision was made by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and approved by the CPC Central Committee, the CCDI announced on Tuesday.

A CCDI investigation into Chen's suspected legal and disciplinary transgressions found that he took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others, and received "a huge amount" of money or gifts either personally or through related persons, according to a CCDI statement.

He is "morally corrupt," the statement said.

Chen's suspected crimes will be transferred to judicial authorities, it added.

He was confirmed to have been placed under investigation and dismissed from his post in December.
