Ancient crossbow excavated in Xi'an


Archaeologists in Shaanxi province found a complete crossbow, 0.8 centimeters in diameter, during the third excavation of the No 1 pit of the Qin Terracotta Warriors site.The bowstring of the crossbow remained intact and was found in the No 11 hole. Archaeologists speculated that the material used for the bowstring might be animal tendon.[Photo/asianewsphoto]
