Police at the Shekou customs in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, helped 20 Chinese crewmembers from a wrecked Panamanian cargo ship return home.

The crewmembers lost all their documentation in a shipwreck on Dec 5.

The cargo ship, named Asia Peace, was carrying logs and originally bound for Zhangjiagang port in Jiangsu province, from Daru in Papua New Guinea.

On Dec 5, the ship was caught in rough seas when sailing northeastern of the Philippines. The logs on the ship fell and cracked a big hole in the ship.

After receiving an SOS signal from the ship’s captain, Yangtze Eternal, a Chinese ship about 30 nautical miles away, came and rescued the crew.

Another ship, the Navios Orbiter, assisted the Yangtze Eternal in the rescue.
