China's Nov power consumption grows 3.3%

BEIJING -- China's consumption of electricity grew 3.3 percent year on year in November, reaching 463 billion kilowatt hours (kwh), the National Energy Administration announced on Monday.

The figure brought total power consumption during the first 11 months to more than 5 trillion kwh, up 3.7 percent year on year.

During the January-November period, power use in primary industries stood at 92.5 billion kwh, up 0.4 percent; secondary industries used 3.67 trillion kwh, up 3.8 percent; the tertiary industry consumed 607 billion kwh, up 6.1 percent.

Residential power consumption grew 2 percent year on year, reaching 638 billion kwh, the data showed.

During the first 11 months, newly installed power generation capacity hit 67 million kilowatts, mostly thermal (34 million kw). Newly installed hydro-power capacity was 18.2 million kw during the period.
